Christmas Lighting Ceremony at Waimea

Tonight I attended the Second Annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in Waimea(*).
The local business association together with the PMRF sponsors the lighting of downtown Waimea. Live on stage is the major of Kauai County, Bernard P. Carvalho, Jr. shown below with Santa and helper.

You could almost see him thinking, "Got your vote. Your vote. Your vote, too." as he worked the park before heading off within thirty minutes for Princeville (another event). Musical entertainment was provided by local musician Nick Costello, courtesy the local Wrangler steakhouse, which he informed us several times had a special tonight of one free peach cobbler to each table.
I hope to write about local politics as I learn about it, and there is a dispute about alleged misuse of funds with court papers naming but not indicting the mayor personally. It's clear that on Kauai politics is very personal as the mayor hugged just about

(*) There are several places in Hawaii called Waimea: I mean the one on Kauai.
