Slack key performer and composer Dennis Kamakahi passed last week. Originally scheduled to perform at the recent NTBG concert, he was too ill at this point but the performers honored him by playing several of his songs as a tribute. The organizer made a great gesture by getting him on the phone from on stage and let us all send our applause as support to him and his family.
He wrote one of my favorite Hawaiian songs that just happens to be about this island: Kokeʻe.
